EXPLODING DETAILS!

Last week, we took a lesson from a fabulous mentor writer, Cynthia Rylant. We studied how she took such small details like hugging a family member and created such a beautiful description of "Hugging Time". As a mini-lesson, both classes worked on exploding some details together. Here's our top picks from each each class:

We spent the night in a cabin.
EXPLODED DETAIL:
We spent the night in a beat-up, old, ragged log cabin. It was so old, George Washington must have lived there when he was a baby! The cabin was so cold at night that we felt like ice cubes in the freezer box. The house moaned outside from the fight it was having with the wind. In the morning, after a long weary night of cabin talk, we were exhausted but ready to get our adventure groove on!

We danced.
EXPLODED DETAIL:
We danced all kinds of dances to a plethora of songs. Rap, disco, pop, and classical! Our feet were so sore that we waddled like penguins! My friends and I spun around the room like "maniacs on the floor!" We definitely danced like we'd never danced before.

Amazing EXPLOSIONS Texans! Keep it up!
